You know the feeling. You're shuffling through the old home video collection on a Wednesday night and the selection is starting to look a trifle bleak. Bun Busters 4, The Frugal Gourmet Cooks with Cheddar, The Goonies, On Golden Pond. The relative merits of the aformentioned cinematic treats aside, it would be nice to be able to select a tape that not only entertains, but whose subject matter is, by its very nature, intriguing. That singularly fascinating subject? Cigars, of course. Believe it or not, there is a veritable bevy of cigar-related videotapes available, and one of them is bound to capture your fancy. But, before you rush out to your local smoke shop to buy one, we thought you might benefit from a more professional appraisal. For your enjoyment SMOKE has employed two of Hollywood's notable film executives to provide a sort of movie-critic's-eye-view of the current cigar video titles.

THE REVIEWERS
Since coming to Hollywood in 1992, Oren Koules (below, left) has moved quickly through the ranks and currently has over 20 projects in development for studios such as Warner Brothers, Disney, Tri-Star, New Line Cinema, and Paramount. Koules' latest projects include Mrs. Winterbourne, starring Shirley MacLaine and Ricki Lake, and Set It

Off, featuring Jada Pinkett and Queen Latifah. Koules is the co-president of Peak Productions with Dale Pollock. Koules is married to Risa Shapiro, who is an agent with ICM. They have one son, Miles.

Kevin Hooks (below, right) is one of Hollywood's new directors. After directing a string of highly successful TV episodes, pilots, and movies, Hooks made his feature film directorial debut with Strictly Business, starring Tommy Davidson and Halle Berry. Soon after, in 1992, Hooks had his first major hit with Passenger 57, starring Wesley Snipes. The film quickly became a box-office hit, and propelled Hooks into the ranks of Hollywood's young elite. Hooks recently completed Fled, an action film starring Laurence Fishburne and Steven Baldwin. (A self-described "avid golfer, motorcycle enthusiast, and connoisseur of fine cigars"), Hooks is developing projects under the Hooks Filmworks banner, which will serve as vehicles for his directing and producing career.
